Next month Title 42 will expire, a measure which aided the expulsion of illegal aliens. In anticipation of a new surge of border crossers, the Department of Homeland Security says it will have to release illegal aliens now held in custody to provide detention bed space for the new arrivals.
Tae Johnson, acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, had requested more beds in anticipation of the expected surge, but Biden Administration officials rejected his proposal. Johnson said that most of the aliens scheduled for release do not have criminal records.
Rep. Dave Joyce (R-OH) took issue with this reassurance by noting that we often don’t have access to the criminal records of illegal aliens’ home countries.
