American tech workers won a lawsuit against the Indian outsourcing firm Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI). The workers charged that the firm illegally replaced them with H-1B visa workers from India. They received a settlement of $4.65 million.
Tech companies often claim that they can’t find qualified Americans to fill the jobs they offer, but commonly this is just an excuse they use to hire foreigners because they can get away with paying them less than U.S. citizens. The Trump Administration took steps to stop this kind of discrimination, but the Biden Administration has repealed most of these reforms.
