With Congress considering amnesties for illegal aliens during its current lame duck secession, Rasmussen Reports did a poll of likely voters asking if amnesty for the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in the U.S. would help or hinder efforts against illegal immigration.
The poll found that a plurality of respondents, 46 percent, believes that amnesty would make the problem worse. Twenty-three percent said it would improve matters; 20 percent said it would make no difference; and 10 percent were undecided. Seventy-one percent of Republicans viewed amnesty as harmful, with 24 percent of Democrats sharing that view.
