Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported that it apprehended more 200,000 illegal aliens at the border in August. This was the sixth straight month of apprehensions exceeding 200,000.
The total of these encounters for fiscal year 2022 has now exceeded two million, a record setting level. The CBP uses apprehensions as a gauge to estimate the full level of illegal immigration coming across the border. Many illegals slip in without getting caught. Just prior to the CBP’s report for August, Vice President Kamala Harris announced that the border was “secure.”
