AIC Foundation recently received a letter from a man in a correctional facility. He expressed great concern about the problem of illegal immigration. He noted that before his incarceration he was unable to obtain public benefits, including health care, even though he struggled “from paycheck to pay check.” Nevertheless, he reads of illegal aliens getting benefits and apparent immunity from law enforcement.
Acknowledging that he needed to pay his “debt to society” by serving time, he asked, “They broke the law coming in and get rewarded. I broke the law and get punished. Why?” That’s a very good question.
