ICE Ordered to “Release Them All”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has, at least until the past few days, been holding more than 14 thousand illegal aliens in its custody in 138 facilities around the country. Ordinarily, those detainees would be subject to deportation at any time.

Since inauguration day, however, all deportations have been suspended by the new administration for at least 100 days. The ostensible purpose of the 100-day hiatus is to enable DHS Secretary-designate Alejandro Mayorka to conduct a “review of immigration enforcement policies [and] interim priorities.” However, beginning with last year’s primaries, President Biden has been under political pressure from various open-borders groups such as United We Dream Action organization to abolish deportations altogether. What’s more, on the street level, violent opposition to ICE and any kind of border enforcement has now broken out in far-left cities on the west coast such as Portland and Seattle.

Moreover, according to a memo obtained by Breitbart News, since none of the 14,195 detainees therefore have a “significant likelihood of removal in foreseeable future,” ICE officials are being told to release them.

“Release them all, immediately,” the memo reads, including those detainees with no American sponsor. Heretofore, detainees lacking sponsors could continue to be held. Not so, under the new rules. All must be released. Since more than 70 percent of the detainees have been convicted of crimes or have criminal charges pending, America instantly becomes a place less safe.
