Liberal Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg’s pro-immigration group “FWD.us” ran an ad entitled “The Parable of Pete Wilson” ahead of Thursday night’s GOP presidential debate. It repeated the old lie that Gov. Pete Wilson’s tough 1994 campaign stand against illegal immigration turned California Hispanics against the GOP, which turned the state blue. In fact, Wilson’s position was popular, led to his victory, and was not the cause of the political transformation of the state.
The reason California is now a crazy blue state is due to mass immigration — starting most prominently with the 1986 amnesty. Over half of the illegals receiving that amnesty lived in the state. Over the following years, they became citizens, brought in relatives, who in turn sent for more. Massive legal and illegal immigration continued — and continues to this day. Today, half of California children have a foreign-born parent. Study after study confirms that where immigration increases, the Democratic Party vote goes up with it.
