Walz, Frey, Others Subpoenaed

The Department of Justice has issued subpoenas to five top Democrat officials in Minnesota to interrogate them regarding their opposition to the enforcement of immigration law in that state.

Subpoenaed were Gov. Tim Walz; Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis; Mayor Kaohly Her of St. Paul; Keith Ellison, the state attorney general; and Mary Moriarty, the Hennepin County attorney.

While the explicit purpose of the subpoenas relates to the officials’ anti-ICE behavior, beneath that inquiry is suspicion of official involvement in the Somali-run welfare fraud scandal in Minnesota.

In mid-January, US Attorney General Pam Bondi said the following:

We are there in surge operations because of the largest fraud scheme in American history. We had people stealing from taxpayers, stealing funds away from the most vulnerable individuals in this country, people who needed mental health services, developmental services, autism daycare. Instead, individuals came in — much from the Somalian community — and stole dollars from those people who needed it, and put it in their own pockets and enriched themselves. Did it right under Governor Walz’s nose and we believe that he didn’t just know about it, that he may be complicit in it as well.
