According to a report just released by the House Committee on Homeland Security, there are at least 16.8 illegal aliens currently living in the United States. Of these, only a tiny fraction — about one quarter of one percent — are detained. The rest are loose in America, free to travel wherever they please, with very little monitoring.
With exactly zero monitoring are two million or so “got-aways,” which got past the Border Patrol un-encountered. No one has any idea exactly how many they are or who they are or where they are, except that they’re here and they’re not likely to go away. During a House Homeland Security hearing on Wednesday, retired San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke was asked by Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY): “What information do we have on the millions of known got-aways that have entered this country?”
Heitke replied, “None.”
D’Esposito asked again: “Zero information on millions of people, some of which are found to be on the Terror Watch List, we have zero information?”
“Correct,” Heitke replied.
In actuality, sometimes we do learn something about the got-aways, such as when they commit heinous crimes:
- In Maryland last year, a got-away linked to MS-13 raped and beat to death Rachel Morin, 37, a mother of five.
- In July of this year, a got-away was charged with the murder of 42-year-old Matthew Carney, a Nashville restauranteur.
- Just last week, a got-away was charged in the death of a 48-year-old Arkansas woman, Jennifer Ann Morton.
Unfortunately for the victims, that sort of information comes at a high price.
