Twitter Takeover: Indian Overclass Now Minus Two

A recent issue of the AIC Foundation newsletter, titled “Importing an Overclass,” detailed the rise of what one of the Overclass supporters had facetiously dubbed the “Indian CEO virus.” One of those CEOs mentioned in the piece was Parag Agrawal, a native of Ajmer, India, appointed Twitter head when Jack Dorsey left that post in late 2021.

As it has turned out, Agrawal’s tenure was brief. Yesterday, Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk, in one of his first acts as proprietor, erased Agrawal from the Overclass–at least temporarily–by firing him straightaway. In addition, Musk also fired a hitherto up-and-coming native of Hyderabad, lawyer-in-chief Vijaya Gadde, who had notoriously canceled numerous immigration restrictionists, including former President Trump.

Musk has promised to dismiss about 75 percent of Twitter’s 7,500 employees. We’ll see how it all turns out, but for now the self-styled “Chief Twit” of the Twitterverse has knocked one of our corporate masters down a peg or two. Bravo, Elon.
