The Trump Administration is suing the state of Colorado and the city of Denver for their “sanctuary” policies which interfere with federal immigration law enforcement. The lawsuit notes that “the United States has well-established, preeminent, and preemptive authority to regulate immigration matters” and that actions by the state and city have challenged that authority.
Colorado Gov. Gov. Jared Polis denies that his state is a sanctuary for illegal aliens. Similarly, the mayor of Denver, Mike Johnston, denies that Denver is a sanctuary against federal enforcement. Interestingly, it was this same Mayor Johnson who vowed last year to use the Denver police and mobs in the streets to prevent federal agents from arresting illegal aliens.
