Trump Can Send Guard to Portland

In a 2-1 ruling the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit lifted a lower court ruling which halted his deployment National Guard troops in Portland, Oregon, to protect ICE agents carrying out their duties.

Illegal alien advocates now often claim that ICE is violating the “rule of law” by arresting and deporting illegal aliens. They don’t care that under the laws enacted by our elected representatives deportation is the penalty for illegal residence. For the advocates “rule of law” means trying to manipulate legal loopholes to prevent ICE from carrying out its legally appointed duties.

In Portland these advocates have physically tried to atop ICE from making arrests, and the city government prevents police from stopping these attacks. Some of these assailants are Antifa, a group the federal government recently labeled as a terrorist organization. With Portland defying federal law, President Trump properly chose to send in the Guard.
