The Department of Defense has ordered the deployment of 3,000 active-duty troops to the Mexican border. Most are from the 4th Infantry Division’s 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Carson, Colorado. Accompanying them is an aviation unit and soldiers with various specialties, including engineering, intelligence and public affairs.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the soldiers will “reinforce and expand current border security operations to seal the border and protect the territorial integrity of the United States.” Hegseth added that the Trump Administration is “dead serious about 100 percent operational control of the southern border.”
