The gang of Venezuelan illegals known as Tren de Aragua (TdA) in just a year has become active in all 50 US states in every kind of criminal behavior: dealing in guns, drugs, and prostitution, committing armed robberies, shootings of police officers, etc. In New York City, for example, they have been so successful that a New York Post article appeared yesterday titled, “How bloodthirsty Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua used NYC migrant shelters to build a criminal empire.”
Down in Texas, which because of its location always encounters these new foreign threats before anyone else, Gov. Greg Abbott has declared war on the gang, offering — in time-honored Texas fashion — a bounty of $5,000 to anyone providing evidence leading to a gang member’s arrest. In a statement, Abbott declared:
Tren de Aragua has spread terror and carnage in every country they’ve been in, and Texas will not allow them to gain a foothold in our state. Today, I am announcing a reward for any information that leads to the identification and arrest of known or suspected members of this gang who have been or are involved in heinous crimes. Texas will not let these thugs use our state as a base of operations to terrorize our citizens. I encourage anyone with information on Tren de Aragua to call the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline or submit an anonymous tip online. With the public’s help, combined with the hard work of federal, state, and local law enforcement, we will capture these dangerous gang members and put them behind bars for good.
In addition, last week Gov. Abbott designated TdA as a foreign terrorist organization and launched a statewide operation targeting it. TdA has also been elevated to a Tier 1 status and a special Strike Team has been formed to identify and arrest gang members.
It should be noted that Tren de Aragua never had a presence in America until Biden and Harris threw open the border.
