That Aurora, Colorado, apartment complex that last summer was reputed to have been taken over by members of Tren de Aragua is back in the news — and so is the gang.
In the early-morning hours of Tuesday, police arrested 14 suspected TdA members in connection with a home invasion at The Edge at Lowry Apartments in Aurora, a suburb of Denver. Since then, five more migrants suspected to be gang members have been arrested in connection with the incident, bringing the total to 19. All are Venezuelan migrants believed to be in the US illegally.
Two persons were in the apartment at the time, and both were wounded, though not critically. Both remain hospitalized.
Roger Hudson, a city council member in nearby Castle Pines, Colorado, told Fox News he had been in touch with the apartment owner and said that most local residents believe Tren de Aragua is behind the incident. He said that in recent months, the gang has only become “more powerful, more dangerous and more desperate.” At a press conference, Aurora Police Chief Todd Chamberlain said:
[The victims] were pistol-whipped, they were beat, they were mistreated. So does that fall in the category of torture for me? Yeah, it does. This is without question a gang incident. I don’t know which gang they are affiliated with yet. There is a high assumption that they may be affiliated with the TdA [Tren de Aragua] gang.
As reported here yesterday, the violent TdA has now spread into at least 19 states, including Colorado. They are no doubt coming soon to a community near you.
