Supreme Court Will Rule on DACA

The Supreme Court will soon rule on the constitutionality of the DACA program, which President Obama proclaimed even though he had previously stated that he lacked the authority to do so. DACA grants illegal aliens who came to the U.S. with their parents the right to remain and get work permits. Under our government’s separation of powers, Congress, not the president, has authority to initiate such a law. On this basis, President Trump tried to end to DACA, a move challenged in lower courts. Presumably the upcoming ruling of the Supreme Court will settle the issue.
