Supreme Court to Consider Birthright Citizenship

One of President Trump’s first actions upon returning to the White House was to issue an executive order banning birthright citizenship, the suicidal policy of awarding citizenshp to children born to illegal aliens — a policy shared with only a very few first-world countries.

Birthright citizenship stems from one interpration of the 14th Amendment, which states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

Trump’s order sought to exclude persons born to those here illegally and temporary visitors.

The order was immediately contested by several blue states, including Maryland, Massachusetts, and Washington state as well as numerous immigrant rights organizations. Those states issued injunctions in various courts to prevent the ban.

In March, the Trump administration petitioned the Court to limit the scope of their rulings to cover only individuals directly impacted by the relevant courts where the injunctions were sought.

The Court said today it would hear arguments in mid-May.
