A study, conducted by Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, lends support for the widely-held view that the policies of the Trump Administration helped to secure the Mexican border, while those of the Biden Administration have made the border far more open to illegal immigration.
The study cited the following Trump policies as measures which strengthened the border: 1) the remain in Mexico program for asylum applicants, 2) ending catch and release of illegal aliens, and 3) establishing the Title 42 health authority. The Biden Administration has consistently worked to reverse these steps.
