Trudging through an evening filled with the self-satisfied blather of a doddering dimwitted, old fool like Joe Biden is too much to ask. Fortunately, the text of Tuesday night’s SOTU infomercial is available variously, if one is so inclined. I checked on it to see what, if anything, Biden had to say about immigration, migrants, the border, that sort of thing.
Well, it turns out he didn’t say much. He did mutter some things about beefing up “border security,” which just means providing more agents to help more illegals make their way safely across. He also declared, lest we forget, that he wants amnesty for the Dreamers. But then he added something that was sort of interesting. Dragging out that old Democrat chestnut (the House of Representative as the “people’s house”), he tried to use it to support his “invite the world” policy:
Here in the people’s House, it’s our duty to protect all the people’s rights and freedoms.
Two things about that. One, we’re sure that his “protection” does not apply to certain people still being persecuted by neo-Stasi goons in connection with events on a bygone January 6. And two, that “people’s house” thing meant American people, Joe. Not the world’s masses.
I honestly think he can’t distinguish the two, and therein lies the problem.
