The Biden administration created the CBP One smartphone app to allow otherwise illegal migrants to log in and generate otherwise phony documentation permitting them to “legally” enter the United States without fear of being arrested or turned back. Nearly one million so-called asylum seekers used the app successfully under Biden.
President Trump immediately abolished the app upon returning to the White House in January. A few weeks later, on March 20, the app was re-launched, this time named “CBP Home.” Missing from the new version is the option to apply for asylum. In its place is an “Intent to Depart” option, which allows aliens illegally present in the United States to notify the Department of Homeland Security that they intend to leave.
The app prompts the user, who must have a valid passport issued by his home country, for various biographical details, phone number, and an assertion that he or she has the wherewithal to depart. Successfully using the app and then following through enable the user possibly to return through legal channels. Illegals who do not follow the process and are forcibly returned risk being permanently banned from the United States. No data yet on usage — the app was only released last week — but we’ll stay tuned.
