In an article in the New York Post by Andrew Arthur notes that the Trump Administration is sending illegal aliens home without deporting them. Arthur is an analyst for the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), which estimates that 15.4 million illegal aliens now live in the U.S. He maintains that policies of the administration are persuading many to go home on their own.
Among them is requiring all aliens, legal and illegal, to register with the government or face deportation and a multi-million dollar ad campaign encouraging illegal aliens to leave, while offering them $1,000 to do so. (That offers a great saving to taxpayers because deportation costs $17,100 per person on average.)
Citing research published in the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, Arthur estimates that close to a million aliens have departed since Trump came into office. Arthur notes that the deportation program of President Eisenhower in 1954 sent around one-hundred thousand illegal aliens home. Seeing that, one-million others eventually self-deported.
