The Center Square reports that “Leaders of major metros around the U.S. have pushed for more progressive immigration policies in recent years by declaring themselves safe havens for illegal immigrants. Now, however, as the realities of the financial and social impacts of those policies sink in, some local leaders are thinking twice.”
A primary example, as we recently reported, is New York City, the destination of nearly 100,000 illegal aliens during the past year. Faced with skyrocketing costs to provide for them, the city’s mayor, Eric Adams, has publicly stated that NYC has reached its limit of these migrants. He said that the city is planning to distribute flyers on the Mexican border to discourage border crossers from traveling to NYC.
As other sanctuary cities experience similar problems, it’s interesting that none are considering a very reasonable solution: termination of their sanctuary policies.
