Ryan Inconsistent on Lawsuits

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) stated that president candidate Donald Trump’s proposal for a temporary ban on Muslim immigration was improper and that “I would sue any president that exceeds his or her powers.” Ryan, however, never threatened to sue president Obama because of his edicts granting amnesty to illegal aliens–even though Ryan has stated that those edicts were unconstitutional.

Jon Freere of the center for immigration Studies asks, “Is Speaker Ryan being honest about his willingness to sue any president who exceeds his authority? Or was that line limited to actions that could be taken by a President Trump? Or, put another way, is Ryan only interested in suing over actions that might reduce immigration, but not over actions that reward illegal immigration?
