Rep. Lance Gooden: Defund the UN

It’s no news that the United Nations has been at the forefront of encouraging and financing illegal migration from countries across the world to the United States. As recently as January 10, we reported here that UN agencies were funding migrants en route to the U.S., often as they come up from South America and through the Central American states and Mexico. Specifically, the UN agencies are said to be planning to hand out this year an estimated $450 million to more than 600,000 immigrants scattered along established migrant routes. More than 50 non-profit immigrant advocate organizations will be distributing that money in the form of cash, vouchers, etc, to migrants in 17 countries as they make their way to the U.S.

The Center for Immigration Studies announced yesterday that, in response to such reports, a group of House Republicans led by U.S. Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) have reintroduced a bill that would defund the United Nations agencies that are financing the historic mass migration event, which is now entering its third year.

The “No Tax Dollars for the United Nation’s Immigration Invasion Act” was originally introduced in late 2021 but went nowhere. Now, in recognition of the renewed evidence of UN complicity in human trafficking, Gooden has reintroduced the bill, saying:

The United Nations is using our own tax dollars against us, and U.S. policymakers can no longer stand by while elites in the UN and Davos actively finance an invasion of our sovereign territory. It’s time to say enough and cut off funding to these corrupt globalist institutions until respect for our territorial integrity and appreciation for our generosity is restored.

As did the original bill, this version calls for an immediate end to U.S. contributions to the United Nations. The new version also calls for the UN to repay the U.S. for previous contributions.

As CIS notes, the chances of the Democrat-controlled Senate passing the bill are slim, but this bill and others “indicate that House Republicans plan to elevate the UN funding issue to a place of higher public visibility that likely will include investigations and hearings drawing broader attention to it.”
