Polls in recent months show strong support for immigration control. Below is a summary of their findings.
Harris/Axios (March and April): Fifty-one percent support the mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
Gallup (April): A majority (55 percent) said that the present level of immigration should be reduced.
Scripps/Ipsos (September): Fifty-four percent support mass deportation of illegal aliens, with 42 percent opposed. Sixty-nine percent support limits on the number of migrants who can make asylum claims, with 27 percent opposed. Sixty-two percent endorse the right of local law enforcement to detain suspected illegal aliens, with 35 percent opposed.
