On the fourth of July a gang of far-left “antifa” terrorists tried to ambush some ICE agents in Texas. Police arrested the alleged assailants, but not before they wounded an officer. Following the incident, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick denounced the political rhetoric which he maintains is encouraging violence against law enforcement.
He stated that much of this rhetoric is coming from Democrat leaders who out of step with the views of most Americans, including the rank-and-file of their party. Patrick observed that “[They are] inspiring people and inciting people to kill police. They don’t seem to think there’s anything wrong with that. And the left-wing media covers it. This is a very dangerous time.
“They thought President Trump was finished, would never be back. So they let these 15 million people in, and they thought they could let another 15 million in for another four years and take over the country.
“They’re defending the people they [let] in here illegally. . . . Now that we’re actually removing criminals . . . they want to hold onto them. This was always the game. Turn them into citizens, have them vote, and be a one-party nation.”
Patrick urged moderate Democrats to denounce what these leaders are doing. They need to affirm, said the lieutenant governor, that “this is not who we are.”
