President Obama’s executive amnesty to give work permits and Social Security numbers to more than 4 million illegal aliens, announced a year ago, is stalled in the courts and headed to the Supreme Court. What many people do not realize is that the rest of his executive actions (in many situations refusing to act to enforce the immigration laws) are in place, protecting more than 80% of illegal aliens from any danger of deportation. Obama’s policies effectively order agents not to deport nearly all illegal aliens.
There has been a major drop in arrests of illegals in the Southwest near the border, deportations are dropping sharply, even many illegal aliens with criminal records are being allowed to stay.
“There are 7 or 8 or 9 million people who are now safe under the current policy. That is a victory to celebrate while we wait for the Supreme Court,” said radical pro-alien Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), one of the Hispanic activists who convinced Obama last year to ignore Congress and declare amnesty by executive fiat.
