An article published in USA Today and reprinted today by MSM.com indicates that northern “sanctuary” cities and the mainstream media are finally noticing that, yes, there is a real illegal migrant problem.
As long as that problem was “at the border” and not where they live, it was easy to ignore. Now, however, thanks to some border-state governors and mayors, the sanctimonious sanctuaries can no longer ignore it. The problem is on the doorsteps.
The article notes the following:
- The San Diego County Supervisor said 4,800 migrants have been dropped off in his county in the past week, saying, “It’s not fair to those arriving here and to those who live in neighborhoods nearby.”
- A Chicago alderman said Chicago has received more than 13,000 asylum-seekers and counting since August 2022. “Every week, the city of Chicago sees new arrivals by bus or by plane. It’s a slow and steady march with no real action from Washington. There seems to be no end in sight. What are we doing for our Chicago residents as we are doing for our new arrivals? What about us?”
- As we’ve quoted before, NYC Mayor Eric Adams has declared the crisis will “destroy” New York City. The city has received about 110,000 so far. “We’re getting no support [from Washington],” Adams said.
The situation in border states is much worse, of course, than in Chicago and New York. El Paso, Texas, for example, is receiving more than 1,800 migrants a day. Meanwhile, Eagle Pass, a small town seven hours east of El Paso, is the epicenter of the current crisis, recently receiving at least 2,000 illegals every day.
Increasingly, even Democrats are pointing the finger at the White House, which in turn weakly points its finger at Congress, neglecting the fact that the role of the executive branch is to enforce the law and that THERE ALREADY ARE LAWS against this invasion. A WH spokesman said, “Without Congressional action, this Administration has been working to build a safe, orderly, and humane immigration system and we’ve led the largest expansion of lawful pathways for immigration in decades.”
Which of course misses the point. The problem for Americans is not that they worry that illegal aliens, while sneaking into their country, might find the crime dangerous. Crime often is. The problem is simply that huge numbers of illegal aliens, who qualify neither as refugees nor for asylum status, are sneaking into their country and are being permitted to stay — and all with the support of their own national government!
That, you demented old fool, is the problem.
