Non-English Speakers Claim Disability

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has expressed concern to the Social Security Administration about people being allowed to claim disability benefits “if they are incapable of communicating in English.” He believes that the agency is “misconstruing” the law that  supposedly permits this eligibility. The senator also noted that the people who claim they can’t speak English aren’t required to prove it.
