North Carolina’s Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper vetoed legislation to require local law enforcement to cooperate with efforts of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to remove illegal aliens. Beaufort County Sheriff told Fox News that most sheriffs in the state would continue voluntarily to cooperate with ICE.
President Trump criticized the governor’s decision: “[North] Carolina Governor Cooper vetoed a bill that would have required sheriffs to cooperate with Ice. This is a terrible decision for the great people of North Carolina. He should reverse his decision and get back to the basics of fighting crime!”
