During the most recent presidential debate Democratic candidate Joe Biden said that most border crossers who claim asylum later show up for hearings to judge their cases. A program by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) found otherwise. It determined that 87 percent of border crossers claiming asylum do not show up.
