As we reported here, in July the state of Texas installed a thousand feet of interconnected buoys in the Rio Grande to impede migrants trying to reach American soil across the river from Mexico. This immediately provoked a lawsuit from Washington, claiming that Texas had “flouted federal law” by doing so. Officials of the DOJ, which filed the lawsuit, apparently found little irony in the fact that Texas was actually opposing the flouting of federal law by the hordes of migrants illegally crossing the border, day and night, every day of the Biden administration.
Now, the federal government has thought up a new rationale for why the Texas marine barrier is very, very bad. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has announced that it intends to add two species of freshwater mussels on the Endangered Species Act. Those mussels, it contends, are at risk from the actions of Texas, and the barrier — as should all barriers in the minds of the Bidenists — must be removed. Forget the fact that Biden’s open-borders policy is hastening the displacement of American citizens, the true “endangered species.”
The Texas Land Commissioner has vowed to fight the matter in court.
This politicization of the conservation law is typical of the leftists who rule over us. In their minds, everything available is to be used in the furtherance of their agenda. Everything.
