Migrants Say Adios after Two-Day Vineyard Vacay

Much of the news today has to do with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s exporting of 50 illegal migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, and the hasty deporting that followed.

As we discussed last week, the oh-so-woke residents of the Vineyard freaked out over the incident and could scarcely wait until they rid themselves of the unsightly bunch that had been dropped onto their island paradise.

The migrants arrived on Wednesday, September 14, aboard two planes from Texas, throwing locals into hysteric NIMBY fits. By Friday, the Massachusetts governor had called out 125 National Guard troops to deal with the “humanitarian crisis.” The Guardsmen quickly hustled the migrants, mostly Venezuelans, onto a ferry for a trip of thirty-odd miles to a military base on Cape Cod, allowing the Vineyarders to breathe a collective sigh of relief.

The migrants themselves seemed happy enough with their new digs, having been given money, cellphones, and medical exams, and taken on shopping excursions.

With their erstwhile guests safely stashed out of view after what must have been a harrowing two days for the Vineyarders, the traditional progressive self-congratulations began, along with the equally traditional threats to legally prosecute the source of their 48-hour discomfiture.

All in all, the episode provided the nation with a needed lesson in liberal hypocrisy.
