Migrants Invited without a Plan? WH: “Because of Our Values”

The fuzzy-headedness frequently exhibited by the man officially at the top of the current administration seems to be wafting down to the troops below him.

Take, for example, White House Senior Adviser Cedric Richmond, who appeared on an MSNBC news program yesterday. Richmond, a former chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus and later one of Biden’s campaign managers, now heads something called the Office of Public Liaison. Asked by a BBC presenter yesterday why, considering the chaos that has erupted on the border in regard to Unaccompanied Children (UACs), immigration policies were changed before the border infrastructure was in place, he answered: “Because of our values.” He then listed the steps that need to be taken to get the new Americans safely settled in their new homes, saying, “Those things don’t happen overnight, but we’re trying to make them happen overnight.”

People such as Mr. Richmond always insist on being judged by their intentions, not by the results of their actions. So what if thousands of UACs are kept in cage-like conditions in border facilities for days and weeks past the three-day legal limit? The intentions on the part of the Biden government are good and noble. It’s their values that count.

That’s the kind of fuzzy logic we get from these people. On the one hand they tell would-be migrants from south of the border and elsewhere how well they’re going to be treated, how many perks they’ll get, free healthcare, free education, plenty of jobs, stimulus checks, and overall just lots of LOVE AND KINDNESS–but on the other hand, they urge them to stay where they are until old Joe and his minions get things ready.

This absurd policy was fated not to work, and not work it’s doing, in spades.

The massive streams of asylum seekers are continuing and growing. Apprehensions in March have already exceeded the entire month of February, and over the weekend, Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector apprehended three more large groups, totaling nearly 400, mostly family units and unaccompanied minors. So far this month, in that sector alone, agents have apprehended more than 34,000 border crossers.

And it’s still March. Just wait till the busy season.

Yet, to folks like Richmond, it won’t matter. It’s their high-and-mighty values that count.
