NYC Mayor Eric Adams hasn’t reared his head here lately, but he made some remarks at a press conference yesterday that seem to require attention.
Referring to the hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants now living unemployed in New York City, Adams decided to declare them all “excellent swimmers,” well suited for jobs as summer lifeguards at city pools:
How do we have a large body of people that are in our city and country, that are excellent swimmers, and at the same time we need lifeguards? And the only obstacle is that we won’t give them the right to work to become a lifeguard. That just doesn’t make sense.
Say what? No one seems quite sure why Hizzoner has concluded all the migrants are great swimmers, but NBC Host Tom Llamas, angered by the “racism” of Adams’s comments, suggested the following:
Where would he get that from, unless it had something to do with crossing the Rio Grande, or because some of them may come from places like Cuba or Haiti, or another island?
Conservative Dana Loesch compared Adams’s comment to a remark made by NY Govenor Kathy Hochul recently about how “black children in the Bronx don’t know the word ‘computer'”:
So the NY Governor thinks black kids in the Bronx don’t know what computers are and the mayor thinks illegal immigrants should be lifeguards because they’re “excellent swimmers. The GOP should be making ads off these insane elements.
It’s amusing how American progressives, so accustomed to calling others “racist,” begin to sink while trying to navigate the perilous rapids of Wokeness.
