McCarthy Calls for Mayorkas’s Resignation

Immediately following the midterm elections, the Biden administration bounced the CBP chief Chris Magnus, who refused to go for a day or so but eventually went. As we said at that time, Magnus deserved cashiering well enough but was not the real problem. The real problems are higher up, starting with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and ending with the WH duo Harris and Biden.

The upcoming House majority leader and Speaker hopeful Kevin McCarthy today turned his sights on Mayorkas, charging at a border news conference that under Mayorkas’s watch the U.S. has seen “the greatest wave of illegal immigration in recorded history.” If he does not resign, the House will pursue impeachment. “He cannot and must not remain in that position,” McCarthy said, vowing that hearings would be held at the border, “so the Democrats can no longer hide from the crisis they have created.”

There’s no word yet on Mayorkas’s reply, though self-removal is unlikely. Stay tuned.
