Mayor Adams: Share the Wealth

The besieged mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has been pondering for a year and a half just how to offload the roughly seventy-thousand illegal migrants that have arrived on his doorstep. During that time, he’s opened and closed shelters, destroyed countless hotels, considered commandeering cruise ships, exported migrants to suburbia, and done or considered doing any number of desperate actions to deal with the influx, never really finding satisfaction anywhere. Yet he and his city still hold onto their sanctimonious claim to sanctuary status.

Now, Adams has a new idea: how about we share the “wealth” by dispersing the illegals everywhere throughout the country? On Sunday, Adams declared in a tv interview:

We have 108,000 cities, villages, towns. If everyone takes a small portion of that, and if it’s coordinated at the border, to ensure that those who are coming here to this country in a lawful manner is actually moved throughout the entire country, it is not a burden on one city. . . .

Adams overlooks a couple of key points here. One, only 40 of those 108,000 municipalities have declared themselves sanctuaries. The other 107,960 are blameless. Sanctuary cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc, have brought this calamity on themselves. Let them deal with it, along with their corrupt, benighted fellow travelers in Washington. Two, Adams should know that migrants seldom stay in a town not of their own choosing. They know too many of their kinsmen living too well on the taxpayer dime in cities like his. The idea of distributing them evenly and keeping them there is ridiculous. Adams either knows that or he’s stupider than he even appears.

At this point, the only solution is (1) wholesale deportation of illegal aliens and (2) barring the further entry of more. But don’t hold your breath.
