It appears that New York City voters may soon elect Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim and radical-left socialist as their mayor. He is an immigrant of South Asian origin who became an American citizen only seven years ago. Mamdani once endorsed the defund the police movement and proposes, as part of his wealth redistribution agenda, to boost taxes on “richer and whiter” neighborhoods.
The polls show that Mamdani leads the race against his two opponents, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. Naturalized immigrants are Mamdani’s strongest base of support. They back him by a margin of 62 percent, compared with 24 percent for Cuomo’s and 12 percent for Sliwa.
Radical leftists promote unending mass immigration for a number of reasons. One is to build an electorate which doesn’t have a deep understanding of fundamental American values such as support for free enterprise and property rights. Radicals can manipulate this kind of electorate for their purposes.
