In a post yesterday, we looked at Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s plans to re-populate America’s small towns and rural areas with foreigners. Today, with help from Breitbart News, we’ll look at the immigration policies of another of the high-flying Democrat “moderates” in the presidential race, Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Nostalgic for the old days of largely open borders during the Obama administration, Klobuchar has called for a return to “at least the pre-Trump administration level” of refugees, or 110,000. Since Trump has set the 2020 cap at 18,000, Klobuchar’s plan would increase the number of asylum seekers resettled here by a whopping 500 percent.
John Binder of Breitbart notes that this increase would inundate thousands of American communities, but not, interestingly, Klobuchar’s own neighborhood of Marcy-Holmes in Minneapolis, Minnesota. That community would somehow likely see a number approaching zero. Most of the few residents of Marcy-Holmes that are foreign-born hail from countries not currently known for producing many refugees, such as China, India, Korea, Germany, Thailand, and Malaysia. In fact, says Binder, during all of the past decade only five refugees from those countries have been resettled in the entire state of Minnesota, none of them in little Marcy-Holmes.
Massive importation of refugees seems to be a benefit Senator Klobuchar prefers to bestow upon areas other than her own. In 2015, she backed a plan to resettle 65,000 Syrians in the United States. During the final two years of the Obama administration, 17,564 Syrians were resettled in the U.S., but only 30 in Minneapolis. In Marcy-Holmes–you guessed it–the count was zero.
