Judge Upholds Florida Law

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta has upheld a Florida law banning sanctuary cities, i.e., cities which refuse to cooperate with federal immigration law enforcement. The ruling overturns a previous ruling of a district judge in southern Florida which struck down portions of the law.

The lawsuit that leading to that decision was brought by illegal alien advocates who claimed that the Florida law stemmed from “an immigrant threat narrative” which promoted racial “profiling.” The Atlanta court ruled that the advocates had no proof of such profiling, and even if they did, they had no legal standing to make their case.

Commenting on this ruling, Border Hawk News writer Allan Wall observed that alien advocates’ “accusations of ‘profiling’ are a simply a trick to eliminate the distinctions between U.S. citizens and illegal aliens.”
