U.S. District Judge Judith Levy, an Obama appointee, decided to be lenient with Edys Renan Membreno Diaz, an illegal alien from Honduras. Diaz has been deported seven times from the U.S. And he’s also been convicted of raping a woman with cerebral palsy.
The seven deportations typically would bring a sentence of 19 months in prison, but Levy chose to spare him this punishment. Instead, she praised him.
Said Levy: “I commend you for supporting your family, for expressing your devotion to them and for working here in the United States in jobs that Americans apparently do not want to work in. . . .” As a lawbreaker who sexually assaulted a handicapped person, Diaz did a crime that a lot of American criminals, out of basic decency, would refuse to do.
