U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee, an Obama appointee, has ruled against the Trump Administration’s modification of the Flores agreement, which prevents detention of migrant children for more than twenty days. This provision encourages illegal aliens, posing as asylum applicants, to bring children with them. Often the government will release them along with the children. The administration proposed to detain the adults and children until the asylum claims are settled.
