Judge Ends DACA Applications

Federal district judge Andrew Hanen has ruled that no more illegal aliens should be allowed to apply for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. He stated that DACA, decreed by former President Obama without the support of Congress, was an “illegally implemented program” and that “the public interest of the nation is always served by the cessation of a program that was created in violation of law and whose existence violates the law.”

Nevertheless, Hanen will allow those already enrolled in the program to keep their protected status and work permits because, in his view, their immediate expulsion would cause many practical problems. The ruling will encourage amnesty advocates in Congress to redouble their efforts pass DACA in Congress.
