A federal judge, Jia Cobb, ruled that the Trump Administration cannot conduct speedy deportations of illegal aliens admitted under the Biden Administration’s parole program. The law authorizing parole limited admission to people selected on a limited, case-by-case basis. Former President Biden ignored that provision and granted mass parole to more than 530,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
Biden appointed Cobb to the federal bench. Her ruling is at odds with a 2020 Supreme Court decision which held that federal judges don’t have authority interfere with deportations of illegal aliens.
As DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin observed, “[Cobb] is flagrantly ignoring the United States Supreme Court, which upheld expedited removals of illegal aliens by a 7-2 majority.” She added that “This ruling is lawless and won’t stand.”
