The shortage of affordable housing is a growing national problem. According to data released by the National Association of Realtors, home prices in the U.S. reached a record level in June of this year.
Mass immigration is one significant reason, among others, for this situation. The number of foreigners who are coming, legally and illegally, is outstripping our existing supply of housing and our ability to construct new housing. During the past three years, our foreign-born population has increased by 6.6 million, with illegal aliens accounting for 58 percent of this growth.
Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), the Republican candidate for vice president, recently commented on this issue: “It’s very hard to talk about the housing crisis in Ohio or across the country without talking about the immigration problem. When you let, let’s say, 10 million or 15 million people into the country illegally, those people all need homes.”
