The Associated Press (AP) reports that “From Miami to San Diego, schools around the U.S. are seeing big drops in enrollment of students from immigrant families.” One of the reasons is that “[P]arents have been deported or voluntarily returned to their home countries, driven out by President Donald Trump’s sweeping immigration crackdown.”
Obviously these “immigrants” are illegal aliens, and many of their children are too. Unfortunately, these children are entitled to an American education, courtesy of U.S. taxpayers, because of a questionable Supreme Court ruling back in 1982. Here is a perfect example of taxpayers having to pick up a tab for businesses seeking cheap illegal alien labor to enhance their profits.
The AP quotes one school board member in Miami-Dade County Public Schools who is unhappy about the decline of alien enrollments. She calls it a “sad reality.” Nevertheless, it is not sad at all for the citizens who have to foot the bill for those enrollments. It’s also a happy reality for citizen students. Now more resources will be available for their educations.
