Illegal Border Traffic Heating Up

As noted here last week, illegal traffic across the borders is surging again, in the lead-up to Election Day. Breitbart News has reviewed a report from the Border Patrol detailing the illegal border crossings in October. Last month, a total of 58,000 crossings, on both the southern and northern borders, were recorded, up from 56,000 in September.

All but 1,000 of the migrants encountered last month were at the southern border. There, the San Diego Sector was in the lead, with just over 14,000 arrests, up from 13,309 in September. San Diego was followed by the Tucson Sector (just over 11,000), the El Paso Sector (nearly 11,000), and the Del Rio Sector (nearly 9,000).

Special Interest Aliens (SIAs) continue to figure prominently in the statistics. During October, Border Patrol agents arrested 124 SIAs, all from Iran. Fiscal year 2023 saw an increase in the apprehension of Special Interest Aliens, as the Border Patrol arrested more than 61,000.
