As ICE agents were attempting to arrest an illegal alien in San Francisco on Tuesday, a mob of “protestors” physically attacked the agents. The masked mob, many of whom were wearing the keffiyeh scarves usually indicative of pro-Palestinian groups, attempted to prevent the agents from placing an unidentified individual into a black SUV. Some climbed onto the vehicle and others attempted to prevent its exit. The agents, wearing body armor, responded with batons and pepper spray and shouted “Get back” to the surging mob.
As the vehicle departed, presumably with the arrestee on board, protestors clung to its side. Two reportedly sustained minor injuries while falling off.
Attacks on ICE personnel have increased by 700 percent since the step-up in enforcement activity by the Trump administration began. ICE officials posted the following after Tuesday’s altercation:
This behavior is NOT protesting. It’s assaulting federal employees while they’re on duty. It’s impeding federal officers. It’s ILLEGAL. It’s DANGEROUS. And it will NOT stop us from enforcing immigration law.
