Haitians, and Others, Arrive with Milton

The ill wind that brought Milton to Florida brought other unwelcome visitors too. These were in the form of the 11 passengers aboard a boat captured in the surf off Boynton Beach. A CBP representative posted the following to X yesterday morning:

Boynton Beach, FL: Last night, Border Patrol Agents & LE partners responded to a migrant landing & encountered 11 migrants (6-Haiti, 2-Guyana, 1-Dom Rep, 2-Bahamas). Illegal maritime migration voyages are extremely dangerous, especially in severe weather.

As you can see, about half of the illegal passengers were from Haiti and the rest from a few scattered area nations.

Haitian migrants have become an important election issue this year, specifically revolving around the small city of Springfield, Ohio, which over the past three-plus years has had to endure a huge and sudden increase in its population. During that time, Springfield’s population has grown from about 60,000 to nearly 80,000, the vast majority of the added residents illegal Haitian migrants.

Crime, reckless driving, and even the theft, torture, and consumption of houshold pets have been reported from numerous local sources, yet city officials, the state government, and Washington continue to insist that all is well in Springfield.

As for the Ill Wind passengers, they are supposed to be returned to their home port. We never seem to be told whether that happens or not.
