In July, we reported on how 20,000 illegals from Haiti had mysteriously found their way to the smallish city of Springfield, Ohio (pop 58,662). So many of any group would be a challenge to such a place, but just imagine that they’re Haitians, recently welcomed into the US from a perpetually chaotic island where even cannibalism is part of the culture.
As far as we know, none of Springfield’s new residents have yet feasted on human remains, but the killing and eating of pets and of ducks and geese in city parks — among other disgusting and dangerous practices — has become a Thing. One local, Anthony Harris, told a city commission meeting on August 27:
They’re in the park grabbing up ducks by their neck and cutting their head off and walking off with them and eating them.
An X user wrote that a neighbor had told her of missing her cat. The neighbor came home to work one day and looked over at a house next door occupied by Haitians. The cat’s body was hanging from a tree branch and the Haitians were carving it up to eat. She reported similar stories about missing dogs.
Then there is the driving. Mr. Harris went on to describe the newcomers’ motoring skills:
These Haitians are running into trash cans. They’re running into buildings. They’re… flipping cars in the middle of the street.
Another resident agreed, suggesting facetiously to the commission:
Maybe we should open up go-kart land again so that people can have a chance to learn how to drive without being on these public streets.
Their poor driving has sometimes proved deadly. Last year, an unlicensed Haitian driver hit a local school bus and forced it off the road, killing a local child.
This migrant plague has descended not only on Springfield. Similar reports are coming in from small towns and cities across America — many of them in red states. For example, so many citizens of the town of Sylacuaga, Alabama (pop 12,578), recently complained to their city council about the town’s Haitian newcomers that the (black) chairperson suspended the meeting, suggesting that the opposition to the Haitians was “because of their appearance” — clearly a veiled charge of racism against the (white) citizens.
American citizens thus find themselves unable to level legitimate complaints about these particular newcomers: the authorities and the media always keep the race card close at hand.
